Building Permits
Before any new construction or remodeling is done the plans must be reviewed by the Fayette County Building Department. Once the plans are approved a permit can be issued.

Occupancy Permits
An occupancy permit must be obtained from the City of Washington Court House Building Department any time a new tenant takes over or occupies a new space within the City limits.

Zoning Permits and Rezoning
Zoning permits are issued to verify the zoning of a property as well as to assure the business is permitted to operate within the permit zone. The property owner can change the zoning by applying to the municipality the property resides in.

Sign Permits
Any sign that you wish to put up on the exterior of your business must be approved by the Building Department.

Historic District Review
Any improvements made to a property within the City of Washington Court House Historic District must be approved by the Historic District Review Board.
